Kenneth Watterworth

Kenneth Watterworth is an experienced business owner and founder of Pro-Tect Inc, a fireproofing contractor in Waterbury, Connecticut. With experience managing teams and multi-million-dollar projects, Ken has built and sold several companies.

Ken graduated from Boston College in 1975. His focus was on business administration with a minor in finance. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. His hunger for knowledge and determination to turn information into action contributed to starting his first company Ken Watterworth Inc. in 1977. 

Ken Watterworth Inc. was a large commercial painting company operating from 1977 to 2015. Serving Waterford, Connecticut, and surrounding areas, Ken Watterworth Inc. assisted on a variety of commercial construction projects. Spending time on new construction sites allowed Ken to discover a new pain point he wanted to help solve. 

In 1991, Ken started Pro-Tect Inc., a commercial fireproofing contractor of structural steel buildings. This was a beneficial addition to Kenneth Watterworth Inc as both companies could work in sync on new construction projects. They are licensed fireproofing applicators for Cafco, Monokote, Albi, and various other products. Ken vastly improved the productivity of his team by implementing strategic project management methods and ensuring a work-life balance for her department.

In 2015, after 38 years in business, Ken Watterworth Inc. closed to focus solely on fireproofing. This additional attention assisted Pro-Tech Inc. to grow to become the largest fireproofing contractor in the state of Connecticut. Ken believes a healthy work/life balance is the key to success. This mindset has allowed him to build multiple successful companies during his career.
